Kempstar is looking for a Senior/Lead Carbon Credit trader to join the existing Renewable’s team. The candidate will have the option to work from our offices in Miami, Houston, or Stamford.
The candidate should have trading experience in the renewables space including carbon related products; specifically International Carbon Offsets, REC’s, CER’s, GoO’s, Biogas Certificates, Local Green Certificates, and all products in the Environmental Credits market. A successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of the U.S. compliance carbon markets, such as RGGI, California Cap & Trade, and LCFS and is looking for an opportunity to expand their experience and responsibilities within a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a Carbon Trading desk from scratch while leveraging the existing renewables infrastructure
- Maintaining, prospecting, and developing a network of new clients active in voluntary carbon markets in North America
- Generating new revenue streams and building a trading portfolio in voluntary carbon products
- Providing an oversight to the whole lifecycle of a trade and new customer onboarding
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in carbon markets
- Profitable track record on a physical trading desk
- Strong knowledge of Carbon and Renewables markets with a particular focus on physical trading, logistics and arbitrage opportunities.
- Degree in Environmental Studies, Energy Economics, Business, or equivalent work experience
- Relevant knowledge of voluntary carbon products (EACs, Carbon Offsets), corporate social responsibility, sustainability and climate change is required
- Experience in development of a new business/desk from scratch is a bonus
- Strong organizational, time management skills and excellent attention to detail
- Entrepreneurial mindset and great team player
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
